Butyl Tape
Since its inception in 2016, Alpha’s manufactured tapes division has delivered the utmost standard of quality and service through a wide assortment of extruded products. We are the only RV butyl tape manufacturer in Elkhart, Indiana. Our products have become the standard for addressing weatherproofing solutions—a chief concern for the RV industry. We offer trimmable, non-trimmable, and mylar-backed butyl tapes specifically designed to accommodate the unique challenges of RV manufacturing, Alpha has quickly earned a reputation for providing solutions that are durable, cost-effective, and easy to install.
Alpha also offers butyl tapes designed for use in metal building, HVAC, and marine applications. Formulated to meet the necessary codes and certifications of their respective industries, these tapes all form permanent, flexible gaskets and provide excellent protection from air, water and weather intrusion.
With the addition of our Flashing and PSA tape lines, Alpha now offers fleece-backed and TPO-backed tapes that have been developed to tackle even the most formidable of challenges in the roofing industry. Weatherproofing and also paintable, fleece-backed tape is an excellent choice for wood seaming installations and repairs. Once applied, this tape can simply be painted over for an invisible finish. Another innovation, Alphabond™ TPO-backed tape, is the product of choice for EPDM and TPO roofing applications. Boasting a proprietary “instant-tack” adhesive and UV-stable TPO backing, Alphabond is an efficient and affordable option for both resealing and restoring weathered roofs, and for waterproofing new installations.
Alpha boasts seven varieties of butyl tape: Non-Trimmable tape, two versions of Trimmable Tape, Alphabond PSA Tape, Mylar Tape, Alphafleece PSA tape, and a Metal Building grade tape. Alpha butyl tapes are available in a wide variety of dimensions, with thicknesses ranging from 1/32″ to 3/8″, and widths ranging from 3/8″ to 4″. All tapes are available in black and white. Alphabond and Alphafleece are stocked in 2″ and 3″ widths. Alphabond is available with a black or white facer.
- Q130 Non-trimmable Butyl Tape – Strong and pliable, Q130 is our workhorse product in the RV market. Ideal for use as a gasket under trim and rail pieces on RVs.
- Q180 Trimmable Butyl Tape – A hybrid product, Q180 offers some of the same properties as Q130 but can also be easily trimmed with a plastic knife. Ideal for use as a gasket under door frames, window frames, and other fixtures.
- QT Tape – As traditional trimmable tapes, these products feature a putty-like consistency and are extremely tacky. They too are used under roofing and siding fixtures.
- Alphabond PSA Tape – These specialty PSA tapes feature a UV resistant TPO facer and a state-of-the-art proprietary adhesive. Ideal for flashing applications.
- Q299 Mylar Tape – Featuring a 2 mil PET facer and premium butyl adhesive, Alpha’s mylar-backed tapes are designed to weatherproof and reinforce sidewall and endwall applications on RVs and trailers. The Q202 series features a salvage edge, while Q299 has a flush “no-edge” finish between facer and adhesive.
- Alphafleece PSA Tape – Featuring a high performance hot melt adhesive and fleece facer, this multifunctional tape is compatible with liquid adhesives and coatings. Also suitable for seam, endcap, and joint coverings.
- Q131 Metal Building Grade Tape – Q131 is a premium, high tensile tape that meets all specifications for use in the metal building industry. It is also often the product of choice for weatherproofing applications in the cargo trailer market.

Most likely! Alpha offers tapes specifically formulated for use in RV, HVAC, marine, automotive, concrete, and metal building applications.
Alphabond, our specially formulated roofing repair tape, does not require a primer. However, surfaces should be clean, dry and free of greases and oils in order to ensure optimum performance.
Compared to other gasketing materials, butyl tape holds several critical advantages. Most notably, it is cleaner, safer and easier to work with than solvated products. Compared to open and closed cell foam tapes, butyls have a long track record of superior durability and typically at a lower price. In both field and laboratory settings butyl tapes have proven to withstand the elements longer and more effectively than their foam and solvated counterparts.
